  • Thank you, Amber, for speaking out on behalf of so many of us who likewise cannot and will not abide by such unfair contract terms.

  • I’m presuming that Wikipedia will have to amend their article on plagiarism to say that it it’s not morally corrupt providing it’s on a contract.

“Plagiarism is the “wrongful appropriation” and “purloining and publication” of another author’s “language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions,” and the representation of them as one’s own original work.

Plagiarism is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions like expulsion.

  • Wonderful to get this feedback here – and in my inbox – because of the hard work by CMG & all the artists rallying, I have a feeling that the behemoth that is TC Media will alter its contract. Positivity people!

  • Thanks for standing up. I am going through a similar situation with a much smaller publisher.

The thing that gets me the most is they want all these rights and they want indemnity. They want the writer to be responsible for content they can edit completely.
