Working from home during personal chaos

  • Wow, did this ever hit home, especially the bit about not being able to function well when your brain is scrambled. I am getting better at recognizing those scrambled brain moments and how to slow down before they happen, but sometimes I still lose that perspective. I am lucky to have friends and colleagues who can help me level off. Excellent article, Meagan.

  • Great article, Meagan! As a work-from-home freelancer of two decades, I certainly experienced the ups and downs of busy home life getting in the way of work.

I wanted to let everyone know that if you are a member of CMG Freelance and have enrolled in the AFBS extended health care plan, you are eligible to take part in the plan’s Member Assistance Program, which includes some counselling services. CMG Members who are on certain types of contracts with the CBC may be eligible to take advantage of the CBC-CMG Employee Assistance Program. Contact me for details at freelance@cmg.ca.

  • I could work perfectly well from anywhere if they would find a way to block that there social media thing and all of those great deals on outdoor gear that pop up at me all day long… life was more productive with an office phone and typewriter! Anyway, having a group like CMG Freelance is great to be a part of. Christine is 100 percent correct, as you grow (or, uh, AGE) in your freelance career, “pattern recognition” in terms of dealing with good days and bad days in a truly valuable, inwardly directed skill. Best of luck to all of you!
